SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 246
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
recognize Women Professionals in Government of Houston on the |
|
occasion of this outstanding organization's silver anniversary; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Women Professionals in Government was founded |
|
with the goal of helping to advance the careers of women who are |
|
involved in government and public policy; it meets monthly and |
|
meetings are open to city, county, state, and federal professional |
|
women, as well as men who work in or with government; and |
|
WHEREAS, Organized in 1981 solely for charitable, educational, |
|
and social welfare purposes, this valuable organization seeks |
|
to empower these women and strives to impart the knowledge and |
|
skills essential to their career growth; it has played a critical |
|
role in the advancement of many of its members by developing a |
|
supportive network and by providing opportunities to them that |
|
help them to reach their goals; and |
|
WHEREAS, Women Professionals in Government also provides |
|
scholarship opportunities to young women pursuing degrees in |
|
government and public policy and offers grant funding to agencies |
|
serving women and children; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
80th Legislature, hereby commend Women Professionals in Government |
|
for its exceptional work on behalf of women in government and |
|
extend congratulations to the organization on the occasion of its |
|
silver anniversary; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
this exemplary organization as an expression of high regard from |
|
the Texas Senate. |
