Brenda Arnett |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
commemorates the life of Brenda Arnett, who died February 9, 2007, |
|
at the age of 56; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born August 5, 1950, in Beaumont, Brenda grew up |
|
in Orangefield; she moved to Houston in 1968 to attend the |
|
Hermann Hospital Radiology Technology School and the |
|
University of Houston; and |
|
WHEREAS, Brenda founded Relief Services, Incorporated, and |
|
served as its president from 1973 until 1994; the company |
|
provided staffing, technical support, and training for health |
|
care providers throughout the country; and |
|
WHEREAS, Brenda created Advanced Health Education, |
|
Incorporated, in 1988 to provide training to workers in the health |
|
care industry in technical areas and management; she served as a |
|
mentor and stakeholder in the University of Houston School of |
|
Entrepreneurship and Innovation; and |
|
WHEREAS, Brenda was the founder of Brenda Arnett and |
|
Associates and Otro Mundo, Incorporated; appointed executive |
|
director of the Texas Department of Commerce by Governor George W. Bush, |
|
she served in that capacity from 1995 until 1998, representing the |
|
State of Texas on trade and investment missions around the world; |
|
during her tenure, Texas ranked first in the nation in the creation |
|
of new jobs; and |
|
WHEREAS, Brenda was a founding member of the GOP Advisory |
|
Committee and was a leading fundraiser and campaign manager for |
|
candidates at all levels of government; and |
|
WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and vitality, |
|
Brenda gave unselfishly to others, and her wisdom, kindness, and |
|
valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and |
|
WHEREAS, Brenda was beloved by her family and friends, and |
|
she will long be remembered for her generous spirit and her many |
|
accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
80th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the |
|
bereaved family of Brenda Arnett: her mother, Evelyn Arnett, and |
|
her sisters, Charlene Arnett and Joy Benson; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy |
|
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this |
|
day, it do so in memory of Brenda Arnett. |
