SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 252
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Lisa Harper Wood, who recently retired as director of
the Keller Public Library after 20 years of loyal service; and
       WHEREAS, Lisa Wood began working at the Keller Public
Library in 1987 when it was located in an old telephone
switchboard station and most of the books were donated; and
       WHEREAS, The library is now housed in a 12,500-square-foot
structure that was built in 1990 with funds Lisa helped raise
through a bicycle race and several auctions; the facility became
computerized in 1993; and
       WHEREAS, Lisa started story times and summer reading
programs at the Keller Library; she worked to extend the
library's hours, and she coordinated the first "Hobo Stew," a
yearly community charity event now known as the "Harvest Stew";
and
       WHEREAS, Lisa helped launch the Friends of the Keller
Library, a volunteer group that supports the library with
fundraising events, and she wrote a grant proposal that won
funding for the MetroPac Library Consortium that allows
cardholders access to materials in all libraries in the group;
and
       WHEREAS, Lisa Harper Wood has been a visionary leader for
the Keller Public Library during two decades of great growth for
the community, and her presence as director will be greatly
missed; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby commend Lisa Harper Wood for her
outstanding services to the Keller Public Library and her many
contributions to the community; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
