SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 260
|
|
WHEREAS, The birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., |
|
was commemorated in Lancaster on January 13, 2007, with |
|
special activities that paid homage to Dr. King's life as a |
|
humanitarian and civil rights leader and with the fourth annual |
|
Martin Luther King, Jr., Parade; and |
|
WHEREAS, A highly anticipated event in the local |
|
community, this annual celebration inspires Lancaster residents |
|
of all ages to more vigorously assert and defend the civil rights |
|
of every American; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Lancaster Martin Luther King, Jr., Foundation |
|
and Parade Committee is led by President Roosevelt Nichols, who |
|
works to support programs that further Dr. King's mission; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. King dreamed of a society in which all |
|
Americans may enjoy peace, prosperity, and justice, and those |
|
organizing and participating in Lancaster's outstanding |
|
Martin Luther King, Jr., Day program are helping to keep that |
|
vision alive; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the fourth annual Martin Luther King, Jr., |
|
Day Parade and celebration in Lancaster be commemorated and that |
|
all those associated with this worthy event be commended for |
|
their efforts to promote equality in the Lone Star State; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|
honor of this event. |
