SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 260
       WHEREAS, The birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,
was commemorated in Lancaster on January 13, 2007, with
special activities that paid homage to Dr. King's life as a
humanitarian and civil rights leader and with the fourth annual
Martin Luther King, Jr., Parade; and
       WHEREAS, A highly anticipated event in the local
community, this annual celebration inspires Lancaster residents
of all ages to more vigorously assert and defend the civil rights
of every American; and
       WHEREAS, The Lancaster Martin Luther King, Jr., Foundation
and Parade Committee is led by President Roosevelt Nichols, who
works to support programs that further Dr. King's mission; and
       WHEREAS, Dr. King dreamed of a society in which all
Americans may enjoy peace, prosperity, and justice, and those
organizing and participating in Lancaster's outstanding
Martin Luther King, Jr., Day program are helping to keep that
vision alive; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the fourth annual Martin Luther King, Jr.,
Day Parade and celebration in Lancaster be commemorated and that
all those associated with this worthy event be commended for
their efforts to promote equality in the Lone Star State; and, be
it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of this event.
