SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 261
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the Community Education Compact, a coalition of |
|
|
educational leaders from Frank Phillips College, the Borger |
|
|
Independent School District, and Texas Tech University who work |
|
|
together to make residents of the Texas Panhandle aware of local |
|
|
educational opportunities and to encourage young people to |
|
|
complete high school and pursue higher education; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The role of the Community Education Compact |
|
|
includes supporting innovative practices that lead to |
|
|
educational achievement, providing a unified voice in promoting |
|
|
secondary and post-secondary education, and making provisions |
|
|
for the smooth transition of high school students in the Borger |
|
|
Independent School District to Frank Phillips College and to |
|
|
Texas Tech University; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The coalition strives to ensure that Borger |
|
|
Independent School District offers a curriculum that meets the |
|
|
contemporary needs of students and provides them with access to |
|
|
higher education; the coalition seeks to secure scholarships and |
|
|
financial assistance for students pursuing higher education and |
|
|
training; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The collaborative efforts of the members of the |
|
|
Community Education Compact will go far in helping high school |
|
|
students and the citizens of the Texas Panhandle to attain the |
|
|
education they need to succeed in life and to serve as productive |
|
|
members of their communities; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
80th Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Community |
|
|
Education Compact for their dedication and their educational |
|
|
goals and extend to them best wishes for success; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the members of the Community Education Compact as an expression |
|
|
of appreciation and highest regard from the Texas Senate. |
