SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 275
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize members of the law firm of Orgain, Bell, and Tucker on
the grand occasion of its 100th anniversary; and
       WHEREAS, William Edmund Orgain began practicing law in
Beaumont in 1907; the Bastrop native graduated from
The University of Texas and served as state representative for
Bastrop County before moving to Beaumont to practice land
litigation following the oil discovery at nearby Spindletop; and
       WHEREAS, William Orgain served on the Texas Supreme Court
committee that wrote the original Texas Rules of Civil Procedure
in 1941; he built a solid, important legal practice and a firm
that continues the tradition begun 100 years ago of placing great
value on legal excellence and ethical standards; and
       WHEREAS, Major T. Bell joined the firm in 1925, and
John G. Tucker came in 1933; the firm today handles litigation at
trial court and appellate levels in all fields of personal
injury, in business, and in labor disputes and has an extensive
corporate practice; and
       WHEREAS, The partners at Orgain, Bell, and Tucker are proud
of the firm's history and tradition, and they are active in many
current community projects and take leadership roles in local,
state, and national bar association activities; and
       WHEREAS, The success of Orgain, Bell, and Tucker in
insurance defense, commercial litigation, utility law, labor
law, and medical and legal malpractice is known throughout the
state; and
       WHEREAS, The law firm established by William Orgain in 1907
has enjoyed a longevity and a continuity seldom encountered in
the legal profession; Orgain, Bell, and Tucker flourishes today
because it has maintained the values established so long ago;
now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby congratulate the members of the Orgain,
Bell, and Tucker law firm on its 100th anniversary and extend to
them best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the firm as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
