SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 320

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Tania Foster of Sachse, who has been named one of Texas' top youth volunteers for 2007 by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program; and

WHEREAS, Prudential Financial, in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, presents these awards annually to honor young people across the nation for outstanding volunteerism and community service; now in its 12th year, the program is the country's largest youth recognition program based solely on volunteer service; and

WHEREAS, A senior at Sachse High School, Tania collected more than $10,000 to support United States troops stationed in South Korea through her nonprofit organization called Dallas is Love; she sought donations from individuals and corporations and used the funds to purchase Army and Air Force Exchange gift certificates, which the troops can use on any military base in the world; and

WHEREAS, The success and vitality of our communities, our state, and our American society depends in great measure upon the dedication of young people like Tania, who use their time and considerable talents to serve others; and

WHEREAS, Tania has shown by her example that she understands the value of giving to the community, and she is truly deserving of recognition for her initiative and dedication; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby congratulate Tania Foster on being selected as one of our state's top youth volunteers and extend to her best wishes for success in all her future endeavors; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. Deuell
