SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 334
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Wallace T. Ford on the occasion of his retirement |
|
|
from the Dallas Veterans Affairs Medical Center; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A 1963 graduate of Virginia Union University, |
|
|
Mr. Ford began his career with the Medical College of Virginia |
|
|
as a laboratory specialist and supervisor; in 1971 he joined the |
|
|
Veterans Administration Medical Center as a research associate |
|
|
with The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas; |
|
|
he was the first African American to hold that position; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In 1973, he went to the Dallas Veterans Administration |
|
|
Medical Center as a research chemist; in the following years he |
|
|
coauthored or contributed to numerous articles and presentations; |
|
|
he earned a master's degree in environmental science and science |
|
|
education at The University of Texas at Dallas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In the 1990s, Mr. Ford received training in radiation |
|
|
safety and health physics, and he has served as a radiation |
|
|
safety officer; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A talented and resourceful individual, Mr. Ford has |
|
|
handled his many responsibilities with exceptional professionalism |
|
|
and dedication; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An exemplary scientist and employee, Mr. Ford is |
|
|
admired and respected by his colleagues, and his presence at the |
|
|
Dallas Veterans Affairs Medical Center will be greatly missed; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
80th Legislature, hereby commend Wallace T. Ford for his many |
|
|
years of exceptional service to the Dallas Veterans Affairs Medical |
|
|
Center and his many contributions to our state and extend to him |
|
|
best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
