SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 337
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
welcome the Denton County delegation to Austin for a festive
celebration of Denton County Days at the State Capitol on
February 26 and 27, 2007; and
       WHEREAS, Created in 1846 from the original
Peters Colony Grant in Fannin County, Denton County is named
for John B. Denton, a pioneer lawyer and Methodist minister;
and
       WHEREAS, Denton County is located in North Texas and
serves as the gateway to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, and
the City of Denton serves as the county seat; with its massive
limestone blocks and soaring clock tower, the majestic
Denton County Courthouse is one of the most impressive sights
in the area; and
       WHEREAS, Renowned for its many excellent educational
opportunities, Denton County is home to 11 public school
districts; in addition, the University of North Texas,
Texas Woman's University, and North Central Texas College offer
students outstanding options for continuing their education;
and
       WHEREAS, The residents of Denton County are rightfully
proud of their illustrious history and their many contributions
to the rich legacy of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby recognize February 26 and 27, 2007, as
Denton County Days at the State Capitol and extend best wishes to
the county's delegation for a memorable celebration; and, be it
further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a
memento of these special days.
