SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 343

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Montwood High School Academic Decathlon team for earning first place in the decathlon's regional competition; and

WHEREAS, Members of the team undergo thorough training and must be knowledgeable in many areas, including mathematics, the social sciences, economics, music, art, and literature; and

WHEREAS, In addition to knowledge in specific subject areas, students submit to interviews and write essays, and they must answer five questions in a Super Quiz relay; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Montwood High School Academic Decathlon team will travel to Katy for the state competition, which is being held February 23 and 24; they are deserving of legislative recognition for their hard work and accomplishments; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby congratulate the members of the Montwood High School Academic Decathlon team for their academic excellence and for placing first in the regional competition; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the members of the team as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. Shapleigh
