SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 344
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Jimena Gandara, who has been named the El Paso Times
2006 All-City Volleyball Most Valuable Player; and
       WHEREAS, A senior middle blocker at El Paso High School,
Jimena led the Tigers to a 14-0 district record and its fifth
district title in seven years; she is a four-year starter and a
three-time all-city selection and was named District 1-4A Most
Valuable Player; and
       WHEREAS, Jimena averaged 15.3 kills and 4.1 blocks per
match and had a .510 hitting percentage; known for her power and
her ability to lift her team when it was under pressure, she has
been the acknowledged leader of the Tigers; and
       WHEREAS, Jimena has demonstrated great talent and
perseverance throughout the year, and she can take great pride
in her performance; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby commend Jimena Gandara on her many
achievements and extend best wishes to her in all her future
endeavors; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
