SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 347

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Siria Rocha, development director of the Frontera Women's Foundation in El Paso, who was recently selected to take part in the Women of Color International Development Incubator; and

WHEREAS, The purpose of the nine-month-long program is to develop the participants' fundraising and leadership skills in order to increase the diversity of leaders and the number of women of color who are involved with fundraising and philanthropy; and

WHEREAS, As development director for the Frontera Women's Foundation, Siria oversees the YWCA Transitional Living Center, a facility that assists women who are victims of domestic violence or who are recovering from substance abuse; and

WHEREAS, Siria Rocha is a graduate of The University of Texas at El Paso and has been involved with fundraising for five years; and

WHEREAS, She is noted for the talent and enthusiasm she brings to her work and for her commitment to helping others in her community; the experience she gains through participating in the International Development Incubator will be of great benefit to the nonprofit organizations she serves and the El Paso community at large; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby commend Siria Rocha for her leadership and community service and congratulate her on her selection for the Women of Color International Development Incubator program; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. Shapleigh
