SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 350
       WHEREAS, The Lyndon Baines Johnson High School Band of
Austin, Texas, has accepted with great pleasure the invitation by
the Chinese American Cultural Bridge Center to participate in the
Plum Blossom Festival in Beijing and Tianjin, China, in March of
this year; and
       WHEREAS, The Lyndon Baines Johnson High School Band will
perform for select Chinese audiences in a cultural exchange
adventure and visit historic sites such as the Great Wall of
China and the Forbidden City, as well as view new developments
in China's exciting cities; and
       WHEREAS, The members of the Lyndon Baines Johnson High School
Band, parents, and directors will represent the City of Austin,
the State of Texas, and the United States of America while touring
China; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby congratulate the Lyndon Baines Johnson
High School Band for its participation in the Plum Blossom
Festival in Beijing and Tianjin, China, and express heartfelt
appreciation to the citizens and officials of China who have
welcomed our young ambassadors and given them the opportunity to
experience the culture, the history, and the excitement of China
and the great cities of Beijing and Tianjin; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of the Chinese American Cultural Bridge Center and all
the officials of China who are participating as hosts in this
rewarding cultural exchange.
