SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 372
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased
  to recognize the South Central District of the National
  Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs,
  Incorporated, which is hosting its 45th Annual District
  Conference March 15 through 18, 2007, in Austin; and
         WHEREAS, One of the oldest districts in the national
  organization, the South Central District has been recognized
  by the national organization for its outstanding volunteer
  efforts, creative youth mentoring initiatives, and exemplary
  programs in such areas as health, education, employment, and
  economic development; and
         WHEREAS, The South Central District headlined the national
  Responsibility magazine for two consecutive quarters in recognition
  of its spirit, its unique rendition at the 2006 national convention,
  and the African-centric Rites of Passage Kufika! program attended by
  the national president; and
         WHEREAS, The South Central District has instituted a Hope
  Award to recognize "unsung heroes" and to encourage community
  involvement; the district's Youth Program is called the "Y Factor";
  the purpose of the program is to mentor and train young people,
  to enhance their social and life skills, and to support them with
  scholarships, workshops, and travel opportunities so that they
  may broaden their horizons; and
         WHEREAS, The South Central District's mission is to extend
  the membership of the national association, protect the interests
  of business and professional women, and encourage united action
  for improving social and civic conditions; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  80th Legislature, hereby commend the South Central District
  of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional
  Women's Clubs, Incorporated, for its many achievements through
  the years and extend best wishes to all for a rewarding and
  productive district conference; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared
  for this outstanding organization as an expression of esteem
  from the Texas Senate.
