SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 382
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the City of Weatherford and Parker County for winning
the 2006 City-County Cooperation Award from the Texas Municipal
League and the Texas Association of Counties; and
       WHEREAS, Weatherford and Parker County received the award
for their special crimes unit, a joint effort between the city
and county to close the gap in law enforcement that occurred with
the 2005 disbanding of a multi-county crime task force; and
       WHEREAS, Using five officers, the special crimes unit has
made 370 major crimes arrests and has taken more than $1.7
million worth of illegal drugs off the streets; and
       WHEREAS, The City-County Cooperation Award was devised by
the Texas Municipal League and the Texas Association of Counties
as a means to recognize the efforts of local government entities
that work together cooperatively and effectively to solve a
problem or achieve a goal; and
       WHEREAS, The citizens of Weatherford and Parker County
have much reason to be proud of their community's efforts, and
they are indeed worthy of legislative recognition; now,
therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of the
City of Weatherford and Parker County for their resourcefulness
and collaboration in solving a mutual challenge and extend to all
congratulations on receiving the 2006 City-County Cooperation
Award; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an
expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
