SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 395
 
  In Memory
  of
  Billy Jack Zachary
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Billy Jack "BJ" Zachary, who died
  January 1, 2006, at the age of 32; and
         WHEREAS, BJ Zachary was born July 25, 1973, in
  Madisonville, Texas; he graduated from Madisonville High School
  in 1991 and from Sam Houston State University in 2001; while
  attending college, he started his own business, Zachary Landscape
  and Lawn; he married Tara Johnson on July 27, 2002, at Northside
  Baptist Church in Huntsville; and
         WHEREAS, BJ joined the Texas Department of Public Safety in
  February of 2004, and was stationed in Monahans; he was killed in
  the line of duty, and his tragic death was a loss not only to his
  family and his fellow peace officers but to the entire community;
  and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan exemplified in his personal
  and professional conduct the virtues of courage, integrity, and
  unwavering dedication to duty, and his commitment to the law
  enforcement profession, as well as to the citizens he proudly
  served, earned him the respect of all who knew him; and
         WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are indebted to this
  exceptional trooper and to all the fine men and women in law
  enforcement, who by their selfless devotion to the public welfare
  have enabled us to enjoy the benefits of a peaceful and orderly
  society; and
         WHEREAS, Officer Zachary's exemplary service in a
  difficult but essential profession will continue to inspire
  all who knew and loved him; he was a devoted husband, father,
  and trooper, and though his life ended far too soon, his memory
  will live on in the hearts of the countless people whose lives
  he touched; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  80th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of
  Officer Billy Jack "BJ" Zachary and extend sincere condolences
  to the members of his family:  his wife, Tara Johnson Zachary;
  his daughter, Zoe Kathryn Zachary; his parents,
  Lonnie and April Zachary; his sister, Conner Zachary; and his
  grandfather, Bill Conner; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Officer BJ Zachary.
