SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 406
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the North Harris Montgomery Community College District |
|
|
Foundation on the occasion of its StarGala 2007, which takes |
|
|
place April 28; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The North Harris Montgomery Community College |
|
|
District Foundation is a nonprofit organization that secures, |
|
|
invests, and distributes assets to support the academic, |
|
|
aesthetic, and scholarship programs of the North Harris |
|
|
Montgomery Community College District; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, StarGala 2007 will honor the exceptional |
|
|
leadership of Dr. John E. Pickelman, who has served as chancellor |
|
|
of the district for the last 16 years; his vision and guidance |
|
|
have elevated the district to new levels of excellence; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of Albion College and The University of |
|
|
Texas at Austin, Dr. Pickelman has overseen dramatic growth in |
|
|
the district; under his outstanding leadership, the district has |
|
|
grown to include five college campuses and six satellite learning |
|
|
centers; the district educates 46,000 students and provides many |
|
|
educational outreach programs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Hosted by Mr. and Mrs. George P. Mitchell, |
|
|
StarGala 2007 is the signature event of the North Harris |
|
|
Montgomery Community College District Foundation; it is largely |
|
|
due to the foundation's support that the district is recognized |
|
|
nationally as one that offers programs of educational |
|
|
excellence; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
80th Legislature, hereby commend the North Harris Montgomery |
|
|
Community College District Foundation for its many contributions |
|
|
to education and extend best wishes for a successful StarGala |
|
|
2007; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the foundation as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
