SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 423

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Dr. Stephen B. Milam, who is renowned for his exceptional contributions to the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Milam is a professor and the Hugh B. Tilson Endowed Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio; he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Dentists; and

WHEREAS, An internationally recognized expert on temporomandibular jaw disease and pain, Dr. Milam has authored or coauthored more than 100 publications; he has received the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation Research Recognition Award for his contributions to the study of primary mechanisms of degenerative temporomandibular jaw disorders; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Milam serves his professional community in numerous capacities; he is the Research Section editor of the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, chair of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation Committee on Research, and a member of the board of directors of the Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; he is truly deserving of legislative recognition for his many contributions to his profession; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Stephen B. Milam for his outstanding work as a professor, a scientist, and an author; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. Van de Putte
