SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 446

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Dr. Francisco Mauricio Bandeira Teixeira for his many contributions to the medical profession and to the people of Alice; and

WHEREAS, A native of Brazil, he graduated at the top of his class from Universidade Federal do Ceara Medical School in 1964 and came to the United States to study new medical techniques; while serving his residency in Temple, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam, where he received many honors, including the Bronze Star; he served as a general surgeon in one of the busiest army hospitals in Vietnam, an evacuation facility on the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail; and

WHEREAS, After completing his military service, Dr. Teixeira returned to Temple and finished his residency; he moved to Alice in 1973, where he has become a vital member of the community and a respected leader in the medical profession; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Teixeira has served as chief of staff for Alice Physicians and Surgeons Hospital and Alice Regional Hospital and now serves as chief of staff for CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital; he has been a Texas Medical Association representative for 25 years and has been instrumental in promoting quality health care for the citizens of Alice and the surrounding communities; he is truly deserving of legislative recognition for his many contributions to the state; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Francisco Mauricio Bandeira Teixeira for his many accomplishments and extend to him best wishes in all his future endeavors; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. Hinojosa
