SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 477
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Buffalo Springs Lake Buffalo Wing Cook-off as a
Texas State Championship event; and
       WHEREAS, Sponsored by Buffalo Springs Lake, the annual
event is held on beautiful lakeside property the third weekend of
April; and
       WHEREAS, The first annual Buffalo Springs Lake Buffalo
Wing Cook-off took place in 2005; the event includes a live
concert, a dance, a Jackpot Beans competition, a Chili Cook-off,
and a barbecue cook-off sanctioned by the International Barbecue
Cookers Association and Lubbock County Water Control and
Improvement District Number One; and
       WHEREAS, It is estimated the occasion brings approximately
8,000 visitors to the lake in one weekend, just for the cook-off
and concert, with a percentage of the proceeds to benefit the
Children's Miracle Network; and
       WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and
over the years, Lubbock County cooks have provided superior
cuisine, satisfying the most discriminating of palates; now,
therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the annual
Buffalo Springs Lake Buffalo Wing Cook-off and extend best
wishes to all associated with the event; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
this special occasion as an expression of high regard from the
Texas Senate.
