SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 484
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Sinton High School, Alice High School, Flour Bluff High
School, Tuloso-Midway High School, and King High School for the
exemplary performance of their students in the recent Texas
Academic Decathlon; and
       WHEREAS, Students from Sinton High School earned a gold
medal in the category of art, a silver medal in economics and
language-literature, and a bronze medal in speech; the school
earned a state ranking of 15; and
       WHEREAS, Students from Alice High School received a gold
medal in music, silver medals in economics, language, and art,
and bronze medals in art, music, and social studies; the school
earned a state ranking of seven; and
       WHEREAS, Students from Flour Bluff High School won a team
silver medal in the super quiz oral relay, a silver medal in
mathematics, and a bronze medal in interview, and the school
earned a state ranking of 11; and
       WHEREAS, Students from Tuloso-Midway High School earned
their school a state ranking of 21; and
       WHEREAS, Students from King High School in Corpus Christi
earned gold medals in art and language-literature, silver medals
in interview and speech, and bronze medals in
language-literature, art, and super quiz; King High School
earned a state ranking of 12; and
       WHEREAS, Members of the academic decathlon teams and their
dedicated coaches have brought honor to their schools, and they
can be justifiably proud of their accomplishments; now,
therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby congratulate the students and their
coaches from each participating school for their achievements in
the Texas Academic Decathlon and extend best wishes to all for
success in the future; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an
expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
