SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 488

WHEREAS, Established in 1917 from territory acquired from
El Paso County, Hudspeth County is named for Claude Benton Hudspeth,
an eminent state senator and rancher from El Paso; and

for routes to the West; growth was encouraged by the completion
of the nation's second transcontinental railroad when the
Southern Pacific and the Texas and Pacific lines met in 1881; and
WHEREAS, Hudspeth County is home to Indian Hot Springs,
listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which served

Blanca, the county seat, is the only adobe structure serving as a
courthouse in Texas; farming and ranching drive the county's

exemplary efforts; now, therefore, be it
