SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 492
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize George H. Coleman for 30 years of outstanding service
to the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas; and
       WHEREAS, He began his exceptional career as executive
director at the Moorland branch of the Dallas YMCA in 1977; he has
also served as a district executive and an assistant vice
president; and
       WHEREAS, Mr. Coleman manages the Moorland branch, which
serves more than 15,000 families annually and is the largest
child-care and summer-camp provider in the community; and
       WHEREAS, He coordinated three capital campaigns, which
raised over $2 million for the construction of tennis courts and
a swimming pool and for the renovation of the existing YMCA
building; he helped increase the annual enrollment of program
participants from 3,000 to 15,000 people and chaired a
collaboration of 15 community-based groups that secured $900,000
to reduce juvenile crime; and
       WHEREAS, A retirement celebration honoring Mr. Coleman is
being held at the Top O' The Cliff Club on March 16, 2007; he is
truly worthy of legislative recognition for his exemplary
service and his many achievements; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby commend George H. Coleman for his
exemplary career and extend to him best wishes for the retirement
years ahead; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
