SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 496
 
  In Memory
  of
  Jamaal R. Addison
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Specialist Jamaal R. Addison of
  Roswell, Georgia, who died on March 23, 2003, at the age of 22
  while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom; and
         WHEREAS, Jamaal Addison was serving in Iraq with the 507th
  Army Ordnance Maintenance Company based at Fort Bliss; he and
  other members of his unit were ambushed by Iraqi forces in
  Nasiriyah after they stopped to repair stalled vehicles; and
         WHEREAS, Jamaal was described by his relatives as the
  family computer expert and a faithful attendant at Bible study;
  he was married and was the father of a two-year-old son and a
  three-year-old daughter at the time of his death; and
         WHEREAS, Jamaal Addison was an honorable patriot who served
  his country faithfully and courageously; the State of Texas and
  the nation are eternally grateful for his service and his
  dedication; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  80th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Specialist
  Jamaal R. Addison and extend sincere condolences to his bereaved
  family; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an
  expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that
  when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
  Specialist Jamaal R. Addison.
