SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 500
 
  In Memory
  of
  John E. Cooper
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Sergeant John E. Cooper, who died
  January 15, 2007, at the age of 29 while serving his country
  in Iraq; and
         WHEREAS, Sergeant Cooper was a member of the 2nd Squadron,
  7th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry
  Division, based at Fort Bliss; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Fleming County High School in
  Ewing, Kentucky, Sergeant Cooper was a highly trained and
  respected soldier who demonstrated unwavering determination
  in the performance of his duties; and
         WHEREAS, Sergeant Cooper was serving in Mosul when he gave
  the last full measure of devotion in service to his country; and
         WHEREAS, Sergeant Cooper was a man of courage, strength,
  and compassion, and his family and friends will continue to live
  with cherished memories of his life and his many accomplishments;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  80th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of
  Sergeant John E. Cooper and extend deepest sympathy to all
  those who mourn his passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Sergeant John E. Cooper.
