SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 501

Spence A. McNeil |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
commemorates the life of Private First Class Spence A. McNeil, |
|
who died March 8, 2003, at the age of 19 while serving his country |
|
in Operation Enduring Freedom; and |
|
WHEREAS, Private First Class McNeil was a member of B Battery, |
|
3-43rd Air Defense Artillery, based at Fort Bliss when he made |
|
the ultimate sacrifice for his country in Saudi Arabia; and |
|
WHEREAS, Private First Class McNeil was a 2002 graduate of |
|
Marlboro County High School, where he was a member of the state |
|
championship football team and a member of the wrestling team; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, A well-trained and highly respected soldier, he |
|
completed basic training at Fort Jackson and then finished advanced |
|
training at Fort Hood; through his unwavering dedication to duty |
|
and honor, Private First Class McNeil embodied the highest ideals |
|
of our nation's armed forces; and |
|
WHEREAS, Memories of his life, his accomplishments, and his |
|
valued friendship will be forever cherished by all those who held |
|
him dear; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
80th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of |
|
Private First Class Spence A. McNeil and extend condolences |
|
to all those who mourn his passing; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy |
|
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, |
|
it do so in memory of Private First Class Spence A. McNeil. |
