SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 501
 
  In Memory
  of
  Spence A. McNeil
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Private First Class Spence A. McNeil,
  who died March 8, 2003, at the age of 19 while serving his country
  in Operation Enduring Freedom; and
         WHEREAS, Private First Class McNeil was a member of B Battery,
  3-43rd Air Defense Artillery, based at Fort Bliss when he made
  the ultimate sacrifice for his country in Saudi Arabia; and
         WHEREAS, Private First Class McNeil was a 2002 graduate of
  Marlboro County High School, where he was a member of the state
  championship football team and a member of the wrestling team;
  and
         WHEREAS, A well-trained and highly respected soldier, he
  completed basic training at Fort Jackson and then finished advanced
  training at Fort Hood; through his unwavering dedication to duty
  and honor, Private First Class McNeil embodied the highest ideals
  of our nation's armed forces; and
         WHEREAS, Memories of his life, his accomplishments, and his
  valued friendship will be forever cherished by all those who held
  him dear; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  80th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of
  Private First Class Spence A. McNeil and extend condolences
  to all those who mourn his passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day,
  it do so in memory of Private First Class Spence A. McNeil.
