SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 504
 
  In Memory
  of
  Nicholas P. Brown
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Specialist Nicholas P. Brown, who died
  January 22, 2007, at the age of 24 while serving his country in
  Iraq; and
         WHEREAS, Specialist Brown was a member of the
  2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team,
  1st Cavalry Division, based at Fort Bliss; shortly before his
  death, he had taken a brief leave in order to visit his wife,
  Sara, and his newborn son, Nicholas Paul Brown II; and
         WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt of gratitude to our
  nation's servicemen and servicewomen, whose courageous efforts
  and enormous sacrifices are deserving of their fellow citizens'
  deepest respect and gratitude; and
         WHEREAS, Nicholas gave his life serving his country, and
  his devotion to duty and selfless service exemplified his
  steadfast resolve and patriotism; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father, he leaves behind
  memories that will be cherished forever by his family and many
  friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  80th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
  bereaved family of Specialist Nicholas P. Brown; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Specialist Nicholas P. Brown.
