Tomas Garces |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
|
commemorates the life of Specialist Tomas Garces, who died |
|
|
September 6, 2004, at the age of 19 while serving his country |
|
|
in Iraq; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Specialist Garces was assigned to the |
|
|
United States Army National Guard's 1836th Transportation |
|
|
Company based at Fort Bliss; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Specialist Garces was on the wrestling team in |
|
|
high school; he loved the sport of wrestling and planned to be a |
|
|
coach; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Specialist Garces exhibited steadfast resolve |
|
|
and courage in the performance of his duties; his devotion to |
|
|
duty exemplified his unwavering determination and patriotism; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Specialist Garces personified the highest ideals |
|
|
of the United States Armed Forces, and memories of his love and |
|
|
friendship will be cherished forever by all those who knew him; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
80th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Specialist |
|
|
Tomas Garces and extend condolences to all those who mourn his |
|
|
passing; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy |
|
|
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this |
|
|
day, it do so in memory of Specialist Tomas Garces. |

|
