Ruben Estrella-Soto |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
|
commemorates the life of Private Ruben Estrella-Soto of El Paso, |
|
|
who died on March 23, 2003, at the age of 18 while serving his |
|
|
country in Operation Iraqi Freedom; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ruben Estrella-Soto was serving in Iraq with the |
|
|
507th Army Ordnance Maintenance Company based at Fort Bliss; he |
|
|
and other members of his unit were ambushed by Iraqi forces in |
|
|
Nasiriyah after they stopped to repair stalled vehicles; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He was born in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, and became a |
|
|
naturalized citizen several years before his death; he grew up in a |
|
|
neighborhood east of El Paso and enlisted in the United States Army |
|
|
after his high school graduation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Private Estrella-Soto was an honorable patriot |
|
|
who was known for his faithful and courageous service to his |
|
|
country; his devotion to duty demonstrated his steadfast resolve |
|
|
and loyalty; the State of Texas and the nation are eternally |
|
|
grateful for his brave service; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
80th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Private |
|
|
Ruben Estrella-Soto and extend sincere condolences to his |
|
|
bereaved family; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an |
|
|
expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that |
|
|
when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Private |
|
|
Ruben Estrella-Soto. |
