SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 511
 
  In Memory
  of
  James M. Kiehl
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Specialist James M. Kiehl, of Comfort,
  Texas, who died on March 23, 2003, at the age of 22 while serving
  his country in Operation Iraqi Freedom; and
         WHEREAS, James Kiehl was serving in Iraq with the 507th
  Army Ordnance Maintenance Company based at Fort Bliss; he and
  other members of his unit were ambushed by Iraqi forces in
  Nasiriyah after they stopped to repair stalled vehicles; and
         WHEREAS, James was known for his sense of humor and his
  optimism; he met his wife, Jill, at an army training center at
  Fort Gordon, Georgia, and they were married in July of 2001; and
         WHEREAS, A courageous soldier, Specialist Kiehl was
  serving in a foreign land at a time of extreme danger; his
  devotion to duty and his selfless service demonstrated his
  steadfast resolve and loyalty to his country; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  80th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Specialist
  James M. Kiehl and extend sincere condolences to his bereaved
  family; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an
  expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that
  when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
  Specialist James M. Kiehl.
