SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 523
 
  In Memory
  of
  Ernest V. Herrera
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
  of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Ernest V. Herrera, who died
  March 2, 2007, at the age of 82; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Herrera was a proud veteran of World War II,
  where he served with the United States Army, 517th Parachute
  Infantry Regiment, 17th Airborne Division; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Herrera continued to serve his country after
  the war; he had a long and productive career at Kelly Air Force
  Base and retired after 37 years of faithful service; and
         WHEREAS, Known to his friends and family as B+, he was a
  passionate fisherman, hunter, and storyteller; and
         WHEREAS, He was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic
  Church, and he practiced his faith in his daily life; he was a
  Boy Scout leader at Saint Agnes, and he was a member of Men's Club;
  and
         WHEREAS, A man of courage, kindness, and generosity, he gave
  unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel
  will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Herrera was a devoted husband, father, and
  grandfather, and he will continue to live in the hearts and minds
  of those he left behind; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  80th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to
  the bereaved family of Ernest V. Herrera: his loving wife
  of 56 years, Rosa R. Herrera; his daughters and sons-in-law,
  Dr. Gloria R. Herrera and Bruce Norton, Margaret H. Workman
  and Mike Workman, Theresa R. Herrera, Sylvia H. Ibarra and
  Jesse Ibarra, Anna R. Herrera, and Rosemary R. Herrera; his son
  and daughter-in-law, Ernest R. Herrera, Jr., and Gracie Herrera;
  his sisters, Mary Garcia, Amelia Villarreal, and Lupe Weaver; his
  brothers, Jesse Herrera, Edward Herrera, and Eleodoro Herrera;
  and his 10 grandchildren; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Ernest V. Herrera.
