SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 530

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Boy Scout Troop 242 of the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church on the occasion of the troop's 40th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Based in the heart of Houston's Third Ward, Troop 242 has produced many city leaders and outstanding citizens in its illustrious history; and

WHEREAS, Troop 242 participates in classic scouting activities like camping and going behind the scenes at police stations and fire stations; troop members are also involved in bicycle safety programs and races and field trips to corporate business offices; the troop has produced numerous Eagle Scouts through the years; and

WHEREAS, For 40 years, the members of Troop 242 have faithfully followed the principles of the Scout oath and promise; the troop is indeed deserving of legislative recognition for its long history and many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to Boy Scout Troop 242 of the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church on the auspicious occasion of its 40th anniversary; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the troop as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. Ellis
