SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 542
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Donald Elementary School of the Lewisville Independent |
|
|
School District, which has been named a 2006 No Child Left |
|
|
Behind--Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department |
|
|
of Education; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Located in Flower Mound, Donald Elementary School |
|
|
is one of only 26 schools in the state to earn the coveted national |
|
|
Blue Ribbon designation for the 2005-2006 school year; to earn |
|
|
this prestigious honor, a school must score in the top 10 percent |
|
|
of schools in the state on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and |
|
|
Skills; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to its Blue Ribbon status, Donald |
|
|
Elementary School has been rated exemplary by the Texas Education |
|
|
Agency for 10 of the last 11 years; the school has won several |
|
|
district University Interscholastic League academic competition |
|
|
awards and regularly receives Gold Performance Acknowledgements |
|
|
in such areas as attendance, reading-English language arts, |
|
|
mathematics, and science; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Donald Elementary School has a P.E.P. Squad |
|
|
(Parents as Educational Partners) volunteer program, in which |
|
|
over 16,000 volunteer hours were logged during the 2005-2006 |
|
|
school year; D Magazine has identified Donald Elementary School as |
|
|
a top elementary school in the region numerous times; the school |
|
|
is celebrating its selection as a 2006 No Child Left Behind--Blue |
|
|
Ribbon School on March 30, 2007; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
80th Legislature, hereby commend the students, administrators, |
|
|
teachers, staff members, families, and volunteers of Donald |
|
|
Elementary School for their hard work and many accomplishments |
|
|
and extend congratulations to them on the school's distinction as |
|
|
a 2006 No Child Left Behind--Blue Ribbon School; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the school as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
