SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 586
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
recognize Police Chief Virgil Hurt of the City of Caldwell, who |
|
is retiring on March 31, 2007, after more than 30 years of service |
|
as a law enforcement officer in Burleson County; and |
|
WHEREAS, Chief Hurt began his career in law enforcement as |
|
a Burleson County sheriff's deputy in 1976; he later worked a |
|
short time at the Cameron Police Department before returning to |
|
Burleson County to assume the role of Somerville police chief; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, In 1982, he was hired as a patrol officer for the |
|
Caldwell Police Department; he worked his way through the ranks |
|
and assumed the position of chief of police in 1999; and |
|
WHEREAS, A talented and resourceful law enforcement |
|
officer, Chief Hurt has handled his many responsibilities with |
|
exceptional efficiency and dedication; under his leadership, |
|
Caldwell has become one of the safest places to live in the |
|
Brazos Valley; and |
|
WHEREAS, Chief Hurt has served as a mentor to many in the |
|
department; he is admired and respected by his colleagues, and |
|
his presence in the Caldwell Police Department will be greatly |
|
missed; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
80th Legislature, hereby commend Police Chief Virgil Hurt on his |
|
exceptional service to the City of Caldwell, Burleson County, and |
|
our state and extend to him best wishes for the retirement years |
|
ahead; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
