SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 627
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of Corpus Christi in congratulating Christopher William Burleigh
of the Boy Scouts of America, who recently attained the rank of
Eagle Scout, a rank achieved by only five out of every 100 boys
in the program; and
       WHEREAS, Christopher advanced through the ranks of Tenderfoot,
Second, First, Star, and Life classes before reaching the rank of
Eagle Scout by following the principles of the Scout oath and
promise; and
       WHEREAS, This fine young man displayed outstanding
leadership through the planning and execution of a service
project which has benefited his community; and
       WHEREAS, To complete his project, Christopher designed
and enlisted volunteers to install a decorative base to enclose
flag poles at the Maxine Flournoy Third Coast Squadron of the
Commemorative Air Force located in Alice; and
       WHEREAS, Christopher plans to attend
Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi and participate in the
Reserve Officers' Training Corps program to prepare to serve
as an officer in the United States Army; and
       WHEREAS, Christopher is an exceptional representative of
the State of Texas and a sterling example to all who have the good
fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby commend Christopher William Burleigh
for earning the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him best wishes
in all his future endeavors; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
Eagle Scout Burleigh as an expression of the high regard of the
Texas Senate.
