SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 643
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Marcelino Antonio "Tony" Estrada, on the occasion of
his retirement as executive director of the State Law Library
after more than 20 years of loyal service; and
       WHEREAS, Tony Estrada moved to Austin in the 1980s; he
joined the State Law Library in 1986 as an electronic searcher
for computer-assisted legal research, primarily in the Westlaw
and Lexis systems; and
       WHEREAS, After earning a master's degree in library and
information science from The University of Texas at Austin, he
served the State Law Library as the acquisitions librarian, the
satellite librarian for the Office of the Attorney General, a
reference librarian, and the assistant director of the State Law
Library; he became director of the library in January of 2002;
and
       WHEREAS, A talented and resourceful individual, Tony has
handled his many responsibilities with exceptional efficiency
and dedication; and
       WHEREAS, He has been an exemplary employee who is an
inspiration to his colleagues and his staff members, and his
presence at the State Law Library will be greatly missed; now,
therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby commend Marcelino Antonio Estrada for
his many years of valuable service to the state and extend to him
best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
