SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 670
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Hospital Corpsman Julie Zachariah of the United States
Navy for her exemplary service to the nation in a time of war; and
       WHEREAS, Hospital Corpsman Zachariah served three tours of
duty in Iraq; on her first tour, she served aboard the USNS Comfort,
treating wounded coalition forces and enemy prisoners of war; and
       WHEREAS, Her second tour of duty took her to Camp Taqaddum,
near Baghdad, which was regularly hit by bombs and missiles; her
third tour was in Fallujah, one of the most active centers of the
insurgency in Iraq; and
       WHEREAS, The courageous men and women who have served as
combat medics and hospital corpsmen in the armed forces of our
nation during times of war have set a lasting standard for others
to follow; their selfless devotion, strength, and compassion have
left an indelible mark on the world; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby commend Hospital Corpsman Julie Zachariah
for her service to her nation and extend to her best wishes for
success in all her future endeavors; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
