SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 671
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Sugar Land Regional Airport, which has been named
the 2007 Reliever Airport of the Year by the Texas Department of
Transportation; and
       WHEREAS, Known as the destination of choice for many
business travelers in the Houston area, the Sugar Land Regional
Airport caters to the general aviation needs of the community
while focusing on corporate aviation needs; and
       WHEREAS, Sugar Land Regional Airport is the fourth largest
airport in the Houston metropolitan area; the airport contributes
significantly to the local economy by providing corporate access
to local markets and public access to air transportation services
and by expanding the job market and offering facilities for corporate
aviation departments; more than 100 Fortune 500 companies use the
airport each year; and
       WHEREAS, This prestigious award is given annually by the Texas
Department of Transportation and the airport manager, Phil Savko,
will be presented the award at the annual banquet being held in
Corpus Christi on April 19, 2007; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby congratulate the Sugar Land Regional
Airport for receiving the 2007 Reliever Airport of the Year award
from the Texas Department of Transportation; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the airport as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
