SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 694
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Chief Warrant Officer-3 Mario G. Villescas on the
occasion of his retirement from the United States Marine Corps
after more than 22 years of meritorious service to his country;
and
       WHEREAS, Mario Villescas was born and raised in Pecos and
graduated from Pecos High School in 1984; he enlisted in the
delayed entry program of the Marine Corps in August of 1983 at
the age of 17 and began training in San Diego, California, in
July of 1984; and
       WHEREAS, After completing the personnel administration
school at Camp Del Mar in Camp Pendleton, he was assigned to the
1st Battalion, 4th Marines at Twentynine Palms, California; and
       WHEREAS, Over the years, he earned promotions, rising to
lance corporal, corporal, and sergeant; he completed an overseas
tour of duty as personnel chief at Camp Butler in Okinawa, Japan,
and returned to San Diego, where he received training as a drill
instructor; and
       WHEREAS, After serving 12 years as a personnel administrator
and administration chief, he was selected for the warrant officer
program in Quantico, Virginia; he returned to Twentynine Palms
and served as squadron personnel officer, adjutant, and legal
officer; he was part of the team that established the first
Installation Personnel Administration Center; and
       WHEREAS, He was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer-3 in
June of 2002 and was deployed as a personnel officer with the
1st Marine Division in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and
Operation Iraqi Freedom; he returned to Twentynine Palms in
January of 2004 and was reassigned to the Installation Personnel
Administration Center as deputy director; during this tour of
duty, he earned a bachelor of arts degree in organizational
leadership from Chapman University; in August of 2005, he was
reassigned to the Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School,
where he was the battalion personnel officer; and
       WHEREAS, A highly decorated officer, Mario G. Villescas
has served his country with honor during times of peace and times
of hostilities; he is an outstanding officer whose allegiance to
duty and superior leadership deserve recognition; now, therefore,
be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby commend United States Marine Corps
Chief Warrant Officer-3 Mario G. Villescas for his many years of
distinguished and loyal service to the citizens of this state and
this nation and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be
it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
