SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 695

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Maxie Morgan on the occasion of his retirement as superintendent of the Cameron Independent School District after 38 years of loyal service to the district; and

WHEREAS, Maxie Morgan began his career with the Cameron Independent School District in 1969 as a teacher and coach at the O.J. Thomas School; he graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in physical education and biology and he later earned a master's degree there; and

WHEREAS, He moved into administration in 1973, serving as federal programs director and media center director; from 1978 to 1982, he was principal of Yoe High School and supervised the renovation of the 1921 building, including landscaping, the remodeling of the library, and other improvements to the grounds and building; and

WHEREAS, He was the district's business manager from 1982 to 2001, when he became interim superintendent; he was named superintendent in 2002; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his 38-year career with the Cameron Independent School District, Maxie Morgan exhibited outstanding leadership, reliable judgment, and consummate professionalism; and

WHEREAS, He has had a positive influence on the lives of an inestimable number of students, faculty, and staff through the years and he will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby commend Maxie Morgan for his outstanding service to the Cameron Independent School District and extend to him best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. Ogden
