SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 770
|
|
WHEREAS, The City of Balch Springs, Texas, is located in |
|
Dallas County and was established in 1870 by John Balch beside |
|
springs that never went dry; and |
|
WHEREAS, Balch Springs is a home-rule city that was |
|
incorporated by the State of Texas in 1953 and has grown to have a |
|
population of over 19,000; and |
|
WHEREAS, Balch Springs honors the traditions of wholesome |
|
family values, academic excellence, and the treatment of seniors |
|
with dignity and respect; the city has a variety of schools and |
|
sports facilities for community enrichment; and |
|
WHEREAS, Balch Springs take pride in its development as a |
|
community and in building a telecom infrastructure throughout |
|
Texas and the nation; the city has a new library, a civic center, |
|
an animal shelter, and a recreation center; it seeks to meet the |
|
needs of its citizens with quality community development and |
|
business leadership; and |
|
WHEREAS, Balch Springs is the home of the Southeast |
|
Dallas County Social Security Administration Office, the Double |
|
D Dude Ranch, and the Chiesl Baseball Complex; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
80th Legislature, hereby proclaim April 18, 2007, Balch Springs |
|
Day at the Capitol and commend the citizens of this community for |
|
their patriotism and civic service; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|
honor of Balch Springs. |
