SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 783

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Alanna Winfield, who has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills while participating in leadership training programs sponsored by Education in Action; and

WHEREAS, Education in Action is a nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging young Texans to become informed and take active leadership roles in their communities; it sponsors the Lone Star Leadership Academy program each summer and the Lone Star Youth Leadership Council program during the school year; and

WHEREAS, Students who complete the leadership academy program can then participate in the leadership council program; as members of the Lone Star Leadership Council, they develop and exercise their leadership skills by creating and leading a service project in their school or community; and

WHEREAS, A student in the Clear Creek Independent School District, Alanna presented her project, Helping the Red Cross Help Others, when she was honored at Education in Action's Independence Day Recognition Ceremony and Reception on March 2, 2007; and

WHEREAS, By participating in Education in Action's Lone Star Leadership Academy and Lone Star Youth Leadership Council, Alanna broadened her perspective and knowledge and has become a strong and skillful leader who is an asset to her school and community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby commend Alanna Winfield for successfully completing the Education in Action leadership training programs and extend to her best wishes for a bright and productive future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. Jackson
