SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 793
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the City of Azle on the grand occasion of the city's
50th anniversary; and
       WHEREAS, The City of Azle traces its beginnings to 1846,
when Dr. James Azle Steward settled in the area; more settlers
came and established themselves near streams in the area, and
Dr. Steward donated land for a townsite; and
       WHEREAS, Through the years, Azle has served as an
agricultural center, with wheat, corn, sorghum, peanuts, and
cotton as important crops; dairy farming also played a major role
in the development of the town; and
       WHEREAS, Today, Azle is a suburban community with a rural
quality of life where horses and cattle still have room to roam
and the amenities of city life are only moments away; known as the
Gateway to Eagle Mountain Lake, Azle offers it citizens a
wonderful place to live and raise a family; now, therefore be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Azle for their
many contributions to the commercial and cultural legacy of
our state and congratulate them on the 50th anniversary of the
City of Azle; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the citizens of Azle as an expression of high regard from the
Texas Senate.
