SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 864
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
pay tribute to the City of Lago Vista and recognize May 1, 2007,
as Lago Vista Day at the State Capitol; and
       WHEREAS, Lago Vista is a peaceful, friendly community
located in the center of the beautiful, rugged north shore of
Lake Travis in northwest Travis County; and
       WHEREAS, The earliest known settlers in the area were the
Comanche and Tonkawa Indians; the ruts in the ground near the
foothills west of Lago Vista are permanent reminders of early
settlers and pioneers; and
       WHEREAS, One of the area's oldest buildings is the one-room
Cox Springs School House that was used from 1909 until 1952; one
of the original land grant owners is memorialized at Dink Pearson
Park; and
       WHEREAS, Travis Peak is the site of the first church built
on the north shore and one of the highest points in Travis County;
and
       WHEREAS, Lago Vista was developed as a resort community in
the 1980s, and the Lago Vista Golf Course has been a premier golf
destination for many years; and
       WHEREAS, Lago Vista Day at the State Capitol is an excellent
opportunity for the legislature to pay tribute to the unique
history and qualities of Lago Vista and its contributions in the
development of Texas; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby extend a warm welcome to the citizens
of Lago Vista on their special day at the State Capitol and extend
to all best wishes for a memorable visit; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a
memento of this special day.
