SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 869

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Alexandria L. Valdez, who recently won a Texas Media Award from the Texas Library Association; and

WHEREAS, Alexandria Valdez is a fifth grade student at Anne L. Magee Elementary School in the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District; her entry won second place in the digital photography division for students in the third through fifth grades; and

WHEREAS, The Texas Media Awards promote excellence in student media production and highlight the importance of media in lifelong learning by recognizing publicly the most outstanding entries in several media categories; and

WHEREAS, Entries are sponsored by public libraries, public school libraries, or private school libraries; this year's awards were presented at the Texas Library Association Annual Conference in San Antonio on April 12, 2007; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby congratulate Alexandria L. Valdez on earning a Texas Media Award for her digital photography and extend to her best wishes in all her future endeavors; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. Hinojosa
