SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 877
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased
to recognize Dr. Julianne Malveaux, who has recently been
named the 15th president of Bennett College for Women in
Greensboro, North Carolina; and
       WHEREAS, A noted economist, author, and radio host,
Dr. Malveaux holds a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from
Boston College and earned a doctorate at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology; and
       WHEREAS, In 2005, Dr. Malveaux served as the Johnnetta B. Cole
Global Diversity and Inclusion Institute's first professor of
diversity-in-residence at Bennett College for Women, and she was
recently appointed a senior fellow at the institute; and
       WHEREAS, Dr. Malveaux has become a role model for others to
follow, and she is truly deserving of recognition for her
scholarly pursuits and her exceptional accomplishments; now,
therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Julianne Malveaux for her
outstanding achievements and extend congratulations to her on
being named president of Bennett College for Women; and, be it
further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
