SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 902
       WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize G. W. Brackenridge High School in San Antonio, the
recipient of the 2007 Inspiration Award from the College Board;
and
       WHEREAS, This prestigious award is given annually to the
most improved high schools in our nation; and
       WHEREAS, G. W. Brackenridge High School boasted 10
Advanced Placement scholars and also had five students accepted
to Notre Dame University last year, more than any other high
school in Texas; nearly 70 percent of Brackenridge High School
seniors are accepted into colleges and universities; and
       WHEREAS, The San Antonio Independent School District Board
of Education and its superintendent, Robert J. Durón, will pay
tribute to G. W. Brackenridge High School for winning this
esteemed award at the College Board Inspiration Awards Assembly
on May 2, 2007; with such a splendid commitment to excellence,
the school serves as an outstanding example for other schools
to emulate; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
80th Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to
G. W. Brackenridge High School on receiving the 2007 Inspiration
Award from the College Board; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the school as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
