SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 930
|
|
|
WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary is a splendid occasion |
|
|
and calls for much celebration, and John and Lupe Anguiano of |
|
|
Austin have much reason to rejoice; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, John, the son of Juan and Hortencia Anguiano, and |
|
|
Lupe, the daughter of Gabriel and Guadalupe Duran, grew up in |
|
|
Creedmore and met when they were teenagers; John served in the |
|
|
Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean conflict, and after his |
|
|
return the couple became engaged; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, They were married at Delores Catholic Church in |
|
|
Austin on May 5, 1957, by Father Charles Delaney; they remain |
|
|
close to Father Delaney and have visited him in Chile; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the |
|
|
years of their marriage, yet John and Lupe have cherished |
|
|
traditional family and moral values; they have been blessed with |
|
|
a wonderful family and many friends with whom they share their |
|
|
boundless love and generosity; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Their six children, MaryAnn Linda, Margaret Ann, |
|
|
John Michael, Deborah Ann, Ellen Marie, and Mark Anthony, along |
|
|
with their families, are a source of much pride and joy; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, John retired from the Texas Department of |
|
|
Highways and Public Transportation after 30 years of service, and |
|
|
Lupe retired from Safeway/Randalls Supermarkets after 28 years |
|
|
of service; they enjoy traveling and have taken trips within the |
|
|
United States, to Mexico, and to Europe and South America; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, John and Lupe Anguiano are active in church work |
|
|
and live their faith in their daily lives; they are members of |
|
|
Saint Ignatius Catholic Church, and they belonged to San Jose |
|
|
Catholic Church from 1961 to 1990; the loving relationship the |
|
|
couple shares is truly an inspiration to all who know them; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
80th Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. John Anguiano |
|
|
on their 50th wedding anniversary; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
this distinguished couple as a memento of this special day in |
|
|
their lives. |
