lots in 1896 for $50; a frame building was erected and dedicated
in July of 1897; by the turn of the century, the church had added
a tabernacle that seated 200; and
       WHEREAS, The current church property on Peach Street was
purchased in 1947; the new building was completed in 1949 and
included salvaged materials from the original frame building and
tabernacle and a native field stone exterior; the building was
dedicated in 1952 after the traditional burning of the mortgage;
and
       WHEREAS, As the church grew, educational buildings and a
parsonage were added; the members of the church voted to change
the name officially to the First Baptist Church of Buda in 1967;
at its centennial anniversary in 1982, the church received a
Historical Marker from the Texas Historical Commission; and
       WHEREAS, The First Baptist Church of Buda continued to

building was completed in 1984, and education and mission
programs were expanded; in times of growth and during times of
challenge, the church has continued to minister faithfully to the
physical and spiritual needs of its members; and
       WHEREAS, As the First Baptist Church of Buda celebrates its
125th anniversary, its members can take great pride in its rich
history and its enduring commitment to its holy mission; now,
therefore, be it
