SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 954

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Police Officer Steve Dickens, who recently received a Life Saving Award from the Lewisville City Council; and

WHEREAS, Steve Dickens has served with the Lewisville Police Department since July of 1996; on January 18, he and his fellow officer, Greg Hopper, responded to an emergency call and found an 18-month-old child who had a pulse but was not breathing; and

WHEREAS, Using lifesaving techniques for choking victims, Officer Dickens was able to dislodge matter from the child's mouth, and the child began to cough and cry; and

WHEREAS, Due to Officer Dickens' skill, training, and quick action, a little girl was saved; he is truly a role model for his colleagues, and his lifesaving action that day is an inspiration to others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 80th Legislature, hereby commend Police Officer Steve Dickens for his lifesaving efforts and extend to him congratulations on receiving the Life Saving Award from the Lewisville City Council; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. Nelson
